Mailbox Rental and Package Holding Terms

Last updated October 11, 2026

This is a summary of our mailbox rental agreement and package holding terms. The full agreement is signed at the counter.

Packages

Every mailbox is the same small box with a real street address. Choose a package: Essential, Plus or Business. Plus and Business add open-and-scan items each month, longer free package holding and waived forwarding fees, and Business allows up to 3 businesses and 3 people on one box. Ask at the counter for prices.

Signing up for a mailbox

USPS requires every mailbox holder to complete USPS Form 1583 and show two current IDs: one photo ID and one that shows your home address. Utility bills and expired IDs aren't accepted. We verify your IDs in person and notarize Form 1583 while you wait. A card is kept on file.

Your address

Your address looks like this: Your Name, 2103 Devon Dr #123, Freehold, NJ 07728, with your box number in place of 123. USPS requires the # sign (or PMB) before your box number. Don't use Suite or Apt, because mail can be returned.

Terms and renewal

Choose month to month, 3, 6 or 12 months, paid in advance. Plans renew automatically unless you give 30 days' written notice. All plan fees are non-refundable and aren't prorated. If a renewal payment fails, there's a 10-day grace period, then a daily late fee. If the renewal is still unpaid 30 days after the term ends, the box closes. To cancel, give written notice at the counter, by certified mail, or by email to connect@myconnectiontree.com. An emailed cancellation counts once we reply to confirm it.

What we accept

We accept mail and packages from USPS, FedEx and UPS. We don't accept freight, pallet or truck deliveries, or anything perishable, hazardous or illegal. Pick up perishable or time-sensitive items right away; we don't refrigerate anything.

Package holding

Mailbox members get free package holding after we notify you: 1 week on Essential, 2 weeks on Plus and Business. After that, holding fees apply per package per week.

Names on the box

Essential and Plus include up to 3 names, one of which can be a business. Business includes up to 3 businesses and 3 people. Each name needs its own USPS Form 1583 and ID. Extra names have a fee.

Other fees

If your box regularly gets more mail than it holds, an overfilled box fee applies in any month we hold overflow mail at the counter more than twice. Lost keys are replaced for a fee. Fees are listed in the agreement you sign at the counter.

Forwarding

We can forward your mail and packages for a fee plus postage. Some items can't be forwarded, such as loose lithium batteries, power banks, hazardous items, cash or items of unusual value.

Closing your box

Use our Cancellation Request form at the counter, or send written notice by certified mail or email. Month-to-month boxes need 30 days' written notice; prepaid terms close at the end of the paid term, and unused months aren't refunded. After a box closes, USPS requires us to forward your mail for 6 months to the address you give us, with forwarding fees and postage charged to your card. USPS doesn't accept change-of-address requests for private mailboxes, so please give your senders your new address.

Package holding without a mailbox

You don't need a mailbox to have FedEx and UPS packages held at our counter. Sign up at the counter first with a photo ID and a card on file. Holding is charged per package per week from the day it arrives. USPS packages can only be accepted for mailbox members, as USPS rules require. Packages not picked up within 30 days may be returned to the sender at your cost.

Our responsibility

Once mail or a package is in your box, or picked up by you or someone you authorized, it's considered delivered. We're responsible only if we fail to use reasonable care, and not for anything a carrier does. Please keep your own insurance for valuable items.
